Introduction
This policy sets out the procedure for admission to Nelmes Pre-School. We aim to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for all children, ensuring fairness and equal access to our available places. The policy is reviewed annually to ensure compliance with current regulations and local authority guidance.
General Information
Age Range
We accept children from age 18 Months until they start school at age four-plus.
Sessions
We offer morning and afternoon sessions and can accommodate full-day sessions subject to availability.
Funding
Nelmes Pre-School accepts government funding for 9 months +, two, three and four year olds. This includes the Universal 15 hours and, for eligible families, the extended 30 hours. Parents are responsible for paying fees for any additional hours beyond the funded entitlement.
Application Process
Enquiry
Parents can begin the process by enquiring about a place at Nelmes Pre-School at any time either by telephoning the setting or using our website.
Registration
To formally apply parents must complete a registration form, providing information such as the child’s name, date of birth and family circumstances and by paying the deposit.
Required Documents
For all funded places, parents must provide a copy of their child’s birth certificate or passport to confirm their date of birth.
Eligibility Codes
For families claiming the extended 30 hour entitlement or funded two-year old places, a valid eligibility code must be provided.
Allocation of Places
Places are allocated based on availability and our admission criteria.
Offer of a Place
A place will be offered to a child based on their application and the criteria outlined below. For funded places, applications can be made once a child reaches the eligible age, with intake beginning the term after their second or third birthday.
Accepting and Offer
Parents must accept the offer of a place by a specified deadline, typically a few weeks after the offer is made. Failure to respond may result in the offer being withdrawn and the place being offered to another child.
Waiting List
If more applications are received than places available, children will be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list is maintained and ranked to those that were on list first.
Equality and Inclusion
Nelmes Pre-School is committed to providing equal access to all children, irrespective of gender, race, disability, religion or background. We will make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of all children where possible.
